• Frayed has a total budget of £30,000, with £20,000 of that budget already secured through private support.

• We are seeking to raise the remaining £10,000 from private investment, and are accepting minimum investments of £1,000.       

​

• An investor (debt or equity) shall receive a named producer credit on the film (and a right of first refusal to receive a producer credit on a feature film / TV version). 
   

• Investment can take the following forms:
   

  • EQUITY - the investor will have a share in the upside of the film (not capped) if the film is purchased or funded for a feature film / TV series. An equity investor would be granted a right of first refusal to participate as an equity investor in the waterfall for a green lit feature film / TV version.​
     

  • DEBT - the investor has a guaranteed cumulative return of 8% over the period from initial investment until the Feature Test Date. The Feature Test Date will be 18 months from the release of the short film. 

​

• Yes, investors can group together in a small syndicate to meet the £1,000 minimum investment threshold, subject to a cap.

​

• If there is no commitment to fund a feature film / TV version or the film is not purchased by the Feature Test Date, each debt investor's initial investment amount will be returned to them plus 8% interest. 

​

• The short film will be used as a proof-of-concept for a feature film / TV version.

​

• Key steps:

  • Once complete, we will package the short film, together with a feature film script and treatment, and partner with a reputable and experienced sales agent - the production team already has established relationships with key agents specialising in this particular genre.
     

  • The chosen sales agent will provide sales estimates and/or deliver pre-sales and leverage their relationships with financiers. The sales agent will benefit from a successful film festival run and marketing.
     

  • Financiers will provide finance to either:

    • buy the IP (the intellectual property making up the film) outright, or

    • facilitate the production team to go into production on a feature film / TV version.
       

  • in either case, part of the funding will be used to make the original investors whole.

• Turn a modest original investment on the short film into a producer credit on a feature film / TV series, together with associated returns. 

​

• In the case of a debt investor; 8% cumulative return. In the case of an equity investor; potential return of many multiples. 

​

• The producers, writers and directors (i.e. the creative team driving the project and bringing it to life) take no fee whatsoever - everything goes towards the film. The budget is split between pre-production, production and post-production, and will be spent on key items such as:

  • actor salaries

  • insurance 

  • transport

  • equipment

  • set build and design

  • wardrobe

  • editing, colour grading, sound, post-production

  • film festival submissions​

  • location hire
